Trip to the National Museum for Mom's Birthday
Its my dear mom’s birthday and she decided to go to the museum. So my bro and I, took the day off work to accompany her. I haven’t been into the National Museum for quite some time and my impression of a museum trip is one that is dry, boring and scary (Yes, i HATE exhibits on the Japanese occupation. They always freak me out.)
This time however, I was pleasantly surprised that I have to admit the Museum is really rather interesting!
It was noon by the time we arrived. I was glad to be entering an air-conditioned place as the afternoon sun is scorching hot. First, we were greeted by pink tanks.

Besides the National History exhibits, we were lucky to be able to visit a guest exhibition – A Story of the Image, Old & New Masters from Antwerp. A very interesting mix of exhibits, majority too bizarre to me. For example, I don’t see how a framed blank piece of A4 paper, titled “Untitled” could be considered wonderful contempory art. *shrug* Perhap I just don’t get contemporary art at all. Nevertheless, there were several interesting installations and photography that I applaud.

We proceeded to the main exhibits, Singapore Living Gallery – Fashion, Film & Wayang, Photography and Food, before we went to the Singapore History Gallery. If one should decide to go, one should really cater a couple of hours for the History Gallery. You’ll be given a audio companion with an audio guide throughout the huge maze of exhibits. Very interesting. A pity we went through a little rushed.

Along the way, there were people preparing the upcoming installations. Here’s a sneak preview. It really looks very interesting!

And what would it be like, if Fashion stayed at the ancient Tang dynasty yet everything else went on forward?

Now, with these interesting things coming up, who wants to go to the museum with me? =]
