Tron – Lights, Camera, Action

Before this, I’ve never heard anything about Tron. Not a single squeak. After the movie, I’m a fan, of its mind blowing digital effects, chic black fashion and gorgeous cast.

Tron has not much of a plot to speak of. Having not followed up with the first edition, its relatively easy catching up with the basics of the Grid background. The storyline is conventional (a tad boring if you please) – Father trapped in Digital World, Son goes to save him, Father sacrifices himself, Son comes back to rule his inherited Software Empire.

That being said, I would still find it fitting to give Tron a thumbs up because sometimes, its the overall package that delivers, not simply about the plot, twists in endings nor clever tongue in chick puns or cliffhangers (pftah. hate cliffhangers.) Tron, with its flashy lights, OTT imaginary Grid world has two of the audiences’ most important desires captured – Sight & Sound.

2) Gorgeous cast like Olivia Wilde (Picture, need I say more)

World Vegan Day

vegan (ˈviːɡən) – a person who refrains from using any animal product whatever for food, clothing, or any other purpose

World Vegan Day celebrates a healthy vegan lifestyle and the awareness and conscious effort to avoid animal suffering and wasteful use of the planet’s resources. In a nutshell, it simply takes each individual to be more considerate, to take consumerism with moderation and the world would have become a much more livable place. Its a honest look at what we consume and how we consume, to make sure we do not squander precious resources, to be more responsible to our environment and the ecosystem that binds us.

Going vegan is a personal choice. Consider the perspective that in the intake of foodstuffs, meat is dead foods, while vegetables are live foods.

In commemoration of World Vegan Day, with a bout of curiosity, I attended the Charity Movie Screening organised by ACRES and Petopia. The docu-movie: Earthlings

Acknowledge the fact that animals are sentient beings. They see, feel, hurt, cry and are social beings. The documentary highlighted the role animals played in our society – pets, food, clothes, scientific testing.

Understandable that animals are reared for food. But is this brodingnagian demand for meat an excess? Or are we a society of emerging carnivores, preying not in moderation but in oversupply?

Detestable are incidences that benign animals are tortured and murdered for entertain is unacceptable.

In this era where information is king, consumers are tyrants, we need to learn about the provenance of our products – how it was made, where it was grown and who was involved in getting it to the market.

There is no better time to find out than the present.

The only effort required, from each one of us is simply to re-evaluate our choices that affect our environment and to project that effect as a collective source of damage to the eco-system. If damage can be collective, so can measures taken to redeem it.

Swing - Red Dot Design Museum

This was a story about a girl who could find infinite beauty in anything, any little thing, and even love the person she was trapped with. And i told myself this story until it became true. Now, did doing this help me escape a wasted life? Or did it blind me so I didn’t want to escape it? I don’t know, but either way I was the one telling my own story…
