East of Avalon & Ju Shin Jung

One is not born a Korean cuisine fan. One simply grows into it. When I first started trying Korean food, everything tastes like Kimchi. I totally missed the subtle tastes of the other ingredients under the blanket Kimchi flavour. So, now that I do became to appreciate the food, I would like to think that Korean cuisine has made me the better food connoisseur.

Nick and I went to East of Avalon Wines at the cross junction between Joo Chiat Road and Koon Seng Road to pick up some Brothers’ Toffee Apple Cider. Since being introduced to it, we’ve been hooked. The subtle taste of apple cider combined with the sweet, robust scent of toffee is simply irresistible. Friends whom tried this has hailed it also as the “Nicest Cider I’ve tasted”.

We ended up buying a carton of Toffee Apple Cider (12 x 500ml bottles) and Little Creatures Bright Ale (6 x 330ml) and to test, a bottle of Strawberry & Pear Cider and a bottle of Wychcraft (England). We had wanted to head over to Everything With Fries for dinner, but as it was too crowded, we ended up at Ju Shin Jung.

We ordered their famous Ginseng Chicken Soup, a seafood pancake anda plate of Beef + Spring Onion. I vote for the Beef + Spring Onion as a must try! Very authentic Korean cuisine at Ju Shin Jung. Three thumbs Up! Only managed to take photos of the side dishes and the pancake. We finished the rest before we snapped a photo!

Nasty Beach!

Punggol Beach

Seen gorgeous photos taken of Punggol Beach. Its location in the outskirts of Singapore and according to the memorial tablet.. about 1,000 victims lost their lives here during the Japanese Occupation. Its the beach of massacre.

Punggol Beach. Regardless of how many gorgeous photos taken of it, I’ll not want to venture back anytime soon. Its a nasty place.

Dirty, smelly, tonnes of flies and debris strewn on the shoreline. The waters have this sticky, slick texture. Probably from the adjacent industrial activities.

Total Yuck.

Crafts at noon

To put the hectic week behind me, I decided to try my hand at some craft work. Am pretty proud of the results!

Glass Pebbles

These will be part of Qwirkii’s first collection. Exciting days ahead!
